Have you ever noticed how a seemingly small scratch on your car can become a big problem over time? Not only do these deep scratches ruin the appearance of your vehicle, but they can also cause rust and other serious damage.

In this blog post by Mercedes Benz of South Orlando, we'll show you how to easily fix deep scratches on your car using everyday items that you probably have at home. So read on and get started repairing those unsightly scratches today!

How Do Cars Get Deep Scratches?

Usually, accidents like fender-benders or contact with sharp objects can damage car paint. Whether it's another car door scraping your car in a parking lot, or a more serious collision, deep scratches are usually the result of an impact with something else.

Deep scratches can also be caused by items dragged across the car's surface, such as keys, tools, or other sharp objects.

If you accidentally drag something across your car's paint job, you may end up with a nasty scratch.

How to Fix Deep Scratches?

You'll need:

· A can of WD-40

· A clean rag

· Sandpaper (800 grit or higher)

· A polishing compound

· A buffing pad

· Tape (optional)

Instructions:

1. Start by giving the area around the scratch a good cleaning. This will help remove any dirt or debris hindering your repair efforts. This will help you better understand how big the scratch is and what kind of damage has been done.

2. Next, apply WD-40 to the scratch and surrounding area. The WD-40 will help lubricate the surface and make it easier to sand down. Allow the WD-40 to sit for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.

3. Use a buffing pad to sand down the scratch. Start with coarse-grit sandpaper and work your way up to a finer grit. You may need to apply additional WD-40 as you go.

4. Once the scratch has been sanded down, wipe away any excess WD-40 with a clean cloth.

5. Apply automotive paint or touch-up paint to the area. Be sure to match the paint color to your car's original color.

6. If you don't have automotive paint on hand, you can use enamel paint from a hardware store.

7. Allow the paint to dry completely before buffing the area with a clean cloth.

8. Apply a clear coat to the area to protect the paint and buff again with a clean cloth.

Your car scratch should now be barely visible! If it's still fairly noticeable, you may need to repeat the above steps or take your car to a professional for further repair.
