Mercedes-Benz North America Vows To Stop US Imports
Effective immediately, Mercedes-Benz of North America has implemented a new policy which requires their retail partners to obtain the following documentation from potential customers prior to purchasing a new vehicle.
Requirements for purchase:
- A valid drivers license
- Proof of insurance
- Verification of address matching the ID where the vehicle will be titled
- Source of funds
- In some instances, Mercedes-Benz North America may require income verification such as 90 days worth or bank statements and the previous year's tax return
- Be required to collect a mandatory $7,500 deposit from new customers to order a vehicle
Mercedes-Benz of North America's new policy further dictates:
- Those retailers may not receive foreign bank wire transfers
- To complete the purchase process, you will need to sign an anti-export security agreement
